The cartoon'Gung' contains the romance that occurs when the marriage of the male protagonist, the crown prince, and the female protagonist, are ordinary people under the virtual worldview that the Republic of Korea is a constitutional monarchy. As it was serialized for 10 years from 2003, it has enjoyed great popularity not only in Korea but also in Japan as a million sellers. It is also a leader in the so-called 'K-Comics', as there are more than 10 exported countries including Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, and France.

It has also been transferred to dramas, novels, and musicals, and has been made into various fancy goods and media mixed in various ways. In particular, musicals were also performed in Japan, causing great repercussions, and recently, contracts for dramatization were signed in China, Thailand, and Mexico. On the other hand, in Korea, even after the serialization was completed, side books were produced and continued to be popular.

The drama'Gung' was so popular that the highest viewership rating exceeded 27% at the time it was aired in 2006, and driven the momentum, the spin-off drama'Gung S'with the same worldview appeared in the following year. In particular, Yun Eun-hye and Ju Ji-hoon, who appeared as male and female protagonists, are evaluated to have established themselves as actors receiving attention through this drama. Above all, the fact that this remake production company is Group A draws attention. As it is widely known, Group 8 has formed a lot of fandom for each drama it shows, such as 'I'm sorry, I love you', 'I love you, ''Boys over flowers', 'My ID is Gangnam Beauty', and the Korean Wave drama boomed as it was exported to overseas countries. It is also a production company leading the company. Thanks to this, the remake is already raising expectations as global content.

The relationship between Group 8 and'Gung' led not only to dramas but also to musicals. After the success of the drama, 'Gung' was produced as a musical and made it to the stage not only in Korea but also in Japan, which was also achieved by the hands of Group 8. In addition, this performance was not limited to a one-off event, but was reenacted in both Korea and Japan for several years and proceeded like an annual event. In particular, idol stars such as Yunho Yunho, Kim Gyujong, Kim Dongjun, SHINee Taemin, and Yukiss Soohyun took on the lead and formed a big fandom in Japan. . Prior to the drama remake contract, Gung's musical copyright was also signed by Group 8 and is currently being promoted as a permanent performance, so 'Gung' is ready to be reborn as a major IP throughout the content industry.

Meanwhile, 'Gung', which was a published comic book, has recently been re-serialized through Kakao Page through all-color webtoon-style editing. In short, the original work is also being remade in line with the trend of the times. About 20 years after it was announced, Nam-Yong Hwang, CEO of Jaedam Media, who is in charge of managing the work, said, "It is necessary to continue making new works, but it is necessary to make existing works." I think that maintaining the vitality of the good works that have been placed is also an important part of IP expansion," he said. "The new boom of'Gung' will be a major example for that."
