Yonghwa Jung, “Senior when singing, youngest when acting… I’m happy”

"A year is too short. If it were a little longer, we could do all kinds of things, but if we film a drama once, half a year passes, and if we do an album once, months go by. I wish it was a little longer than 365 days."

Singer and actor Jung Yong-Hwa in his 12th year of debut said, "I was anxious if I didn't do something," about the reason for 'working hard' like a cow. He said that it is a pity that he only has one body and that he enjoys acting, music, and entertainment.

In a video interview with Ten Asia on the 15th, Yonghwa Jung shared various stories, such as his impressions of successfully completing the KBS 2TV drama 'Sell Your Haunted House'.

'Sell Your Haunted House', which ended on the 9th, is a life-related exorcism drama in which an exorcist, a certified real estate agent, teamed up with an exorcist specializing in exorcism, exorcising a ghost or a ghost from a real estate that has become a haunted house, and unraveling strange stories.

In the drama, Jung Yong-Hwa took on the role of Oh In-beom, a psychic swindler who was savvy. The characters with varying situations and emotions in each episode were completed with stable acting and delicate expressions.

Jung Yong-Hwa said, "I filmed for about 6 months, but it's sad that it's already over, and I still seem to be absorbed in the role. About the actors who worked with him, he said, "The breathing was really good." "Yesterday, the four main actors got together and had a meal. We promised to meet regularly to eat and spend time together."

The reason he chose 'Sell Your Haunted House' was that he had faith in his partner, Jang Nara. Jung Yong-Hwa said, "I heard that the other actor was Jang Nara-senpai and said I would do it unconditionally. I thought, 'Is there work like this?', so I decided without worrying. explained that

Regarding how he felt about working with Jang Nara, he said, "I'm really a veteran, and I think I can understand why you've always done well. Yonghwa Jung said, "Because I'm a lot older, it may make me uncomfortable, but there's nothing like that. It's a style that makes me feel good while complimenting me." He added, "I was excited and had more fun. I really learned a lot. I feel like I got a really good person."

He continued, "Kang Hong-Seok Hyung and Kang Mal-geum noona are also very good people. I couldn't stop laughing when we were filming together." He said, "Especially when I was filming with Kang Hong-Seok Hyung, I hardly ever followed the script. The director and the three of us often came up with ideas while joking around. I think it was expressed well. As soon as I saw it for the first time, I decided to let go and had a good time. I really enjoyed filming it. He then recalled, "As a singer, when it comes to music shows, I'm a senior, but here I feel like the youngest brother, so I was very happy to shoot.

Jung Yong-Hwa, who played the con artist Oh In-beom in the play, said, "When I was bright, I was brighter than anyone else, and when I was sad, I acted more sadly than anyone else. I thought I had to do the opposite. If I had to express 1, I expressed 10."

When asked about the most difficult part, he said, "I was afraid of what the possessive would look like and how I would act." But he said, "I believe in CG while checking Wongwi's feelings in the script. I also gained the confidence to throw myself away." "In the past, there was a restriction like, 'Can I do this?', but this time, I thought that viewers would feel that I was possessed by someone else by abandoning me. If I didn't have confidence, the viewers wouldn't even feel it. It was hard to express, but it was fun."

'Sell Your Haunted House' was Jung Yong-Hwa's first comeback after his discharge. He said, "I tend to choose works carefully. I am worried about what to do when there is a difference between what I like and what people say I like. "There are so many things I want to do, and I don't want to do the same thing again. That's why the music and acting took a long time. But everything went well for this work. I wanted to do something new, but it seemed like a mixture of various genres, so I really wanted to do it." said.

When asked about the differences from before, Jung Yong-Hwa said, "Before that, I tried to do my best within the framework I had. There was a lot of pressure and a great desire to do well. "When I was in my 20s, I wanted to look cool in everything, but now I want to show what's inside. It seems to have changed as I got older."

“This time, miraculously, even if I read the script once, I memorized everything. When I started filming, there were many times when lines came out without me knowing. It was a wonderful experience to feel.”

Jung Yong-hwa said, "I am 200% satisfied with the work. I had so much fun working on it that I thought there would be no better work than this, and I learned a lot by watching the seniors who do well in each episode." "I am grateful for the time to watch and learn in front of my eyes. He said, "I thought I did a good job."

He also said, 'Great Real Estate' is a drama that made me take a new leap forward. There has never been a drama that told me 'I saw you well' or 'I did well' like this. It's my first drama in my 30s, but I met a lot of good people and started very happily. This is so good," he emphasized, "I am confident that I can do well with other styles of exorcism."

Yonghwa Jung is truly an 'all-around entertainer'. If it's acting, it's acting, if it's music, it's all about music. He said, "Acting, entertainment, and music are all fun. There are so many things I want to do, so it seems to have both advantages and disadvantages. I want to do this and that too, but I always think, 'Why do I only have one body?'" He said, "Thankfully in many ways. I'm happy that I found you on TV. I don't think I thought of that in the early days of my debut, but after 10 years, I can do what I love as a profession, and thank you for telling me that I have talent.

Regarding her future activities as a singer, she said, "I'm ready at any time," and "I've been writing songs steadily. I can't say when an album will come out, but I'm trying to share it within the short 365 days."

Jung Yong-Hwa, who has been consistently 'working hard' since his debut, also had a slump that only he knew. He said, "Since my debut, I have been making bread with the drama 'You're Handsome' and the debut song 'I'm Alone. Every time I did something like this, it went well, so I had a lot of anxiety." confessed

He continued, "After the heat like the first time cooled down, competency was important." "I think I overcame it when I started listening to other people. After looking back at myself in the military and talking with my young friends, I said, 'I want to be like my older brother'. I overcame it, feeling, 'I'm a successful older brother and I've been doing well.'" he said. “When my juniors consult me, they tell me a lot of things like this. I think idols in particular go through a lot of slumps. There are people who overcome this, and there are people who fall deeper. Seeing juniors like that makes me want to help.”

Lastly, Yonghwa Jung vowed to choose the next work as soon as possible. "The next project has not been decided yet. However, a lot of works came at this time because many people liked it. I'm trying not to take too long this time. If there is a good project, I'm thinking of doing it right away."
