BTS, Sungnyemun background 'PTD' in 'Global Citizen Live'

The group BTS splendidly decorated the opening of '2021 Global Citizen LIVE'.

Global Citizen, an international anti-poverty social movement group, held 'Global Citizen Live', a large-scale live event on the 26th. Various performances and events filmed in major cities on six continents were broadcast live through Global Citizen's official YouTube channel.

As the first runner in the 'Global Citizen Live' lineup, BTS sang 'Permission to Dance' in Seoul, opening the door to a worldwide mega event.

The 'Permission to Dance' performance, set against the backdrop of the National Treasure Sungnyemun, was a stage where the beauty of traditional Korean architecture and liveliness of live music stood out. In particular, it was filmed at night, and numerous lights lit up Sungnyemun to create a spectacular scene.

Here, a stage set made with logos and colors that symbolize global citizens caught the attention of the world as it harmonized with Sungnyemun. The stage set was made in a circular shape to convey the beauty of Sungnyemun to the world, and traditional Korean patterns were also used in the stage structure and floor design.

From the beginning to the end of the performance, BTS raised the heat of 'Global Citizen Live' with a bright expression and lively appearance. In the second half of the song, 40 dancers appeared in front of the stage and, together with BTS, presented a choreography using international sign language meaning 'fun', 'dance', and 'peace', bringing liveliness and grandeur at the same time.

'Global Citizen Live' was held as part of the Global Citizen campaign to protect the global environment and eradicate poverty. In the 24-hour live broadcast that day, starting with BTS, who performed in Seoul, artists, activists, and leaders from various fields appeared in New York (Central Park), Paris (Mars Square), Dubai, London, Los Angeles, Lagos, Rio de Janeiro, Sydney, etc. Various contents such as performances will be presented on stages set in symbolic places of major cities on each continent.

'Global Citizen Live' is a different version of the 24-hour live broadcast and will be broadcast on the US ABC channel at 8 am (Korean time) on the 27th.
